The Global Diaspora Confederation (GDC) is the world’s largest diaspora-led civil society organization to connect and empower Diaspora Organizations at the global level. GDC aspires to build an inclusive movement where all Diaspora Organizations can be supported, belong to, discover, and realize their ambitions in order to achieve peace, unity, and social and economic advancement for all.
Role, Scope and Impact
Secretary team members work closely with the Chair of GDC. The secretary team supports the smooth operation of GDC and any on-demand work required by the Chair. Externally, the role officially liaises for GDC, while internally, it works with all departments to provide support for the Chair. Secretary team members are strong pillars to GDC, that can be relied upon and reflect the image of GDC accurately and effectively at all times. The secretary team members also assist the Chair in reducing the substantial workload and ensure any outstanding or urgent inquiries are managed without delay, especially when the Chair is being fully occupied. The secretary team members also ensure meetings are well organized and documented with prompt responsiveness.
Description of duties:
-Setting up, organizing, and taking minutes for meetings as required
-Working closely with the Chair to resolve any outstanding and urgent work
-Managing responses for the Chair’s office during the absence of the Chair
-Preparing official correspondences for GDC and Chair
-Reporting regularly on work progress and responding to on-demand work
-Assisting in multiple projects simultaneously while looking after administrative work.
-Familiarizing with and following up on all work required by the Chair
-Helping to manage relations of stakeholders and partners at all levels

Expected skillset (Qualifications) including but not limited to:
-Responsive, responsible, reliable
-Trustworthy, humble, genuine, truthful, flexible

-Strong time making and problem-solving skills
-Strong analytical and excellent writing skills
-Strong emotional and cultural intelligence
-Work experience is not required but a proactive attitude to learn and commit is crucial (We have team -members who have decades of and no experience, it is not experience we look for)
-Willingness and availability to contribute long term despite all other present and future commitments
