The Afghan Diaspora: Partners in the Crisis Response

This publication stems from the need to understand the changes occurred within the Afghan diaspora in Italy following the Taliban's return to power in August 2021. Based on a qualitative methodology (through literature review and collection of primary data), this report maps Afghan diaspora groups and organizations in Italy, identifying their intervention priorities and activities in Italy and in Afghanistan, in order to explore engagement opportunities in response to the Afghan crisis.

Using Facebook Ads for Diaspora Engagement on Humanitarian Assistance in the Philippines

The Data for Good unit at Meta and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) partnered to develop, launch and analyze a pair of online campaigns to raise awareness about the impact of recurring natural disasters in the Philippines in Filipino American communities. The campaigns ultimately reached over 10 million people and demonstrated the efficacy of digital outreach for engaging communities in disaster recovery efforts and transferring knowledge of safe shelter messaging.

Empowering the South American Diaspora as Agents for Sustainable Development - A Regional Assessment Study

The Regional Assessment report highlights how diasporas from South America are contributing to the development of their countries of origin, and how these countries can work with diaspora communities to maximize their impact. This multilevel study gathered primary data from six countries using a common participatory methodology and tools, which included more than 120 interviews and several focus groups with representatives from the government, civil society, and diaspora communities in each country.
