El Quilombo by: Maxwell Adrian Briceño Godoy

Country of Origin: Venezuela (Bolivarian Republic of)
Country of Residence: Venezuela (Bolivarian Republic of)

This project is a series of photos and stories of people who live in the El Quilombo Community, a sector that was born in Caracas in the west of the city near the community where I live in the sector of Catia, it is this proximity that generates the concern to know and get involved with the Haitian community that I distinguished daily in the neighborhood.
The project delves into scenarios that involve the emotionality of Haitian men and women, migrants whose majority lack family companionship, who do not master the Spanish language due to their native French and who are inserted in a society that despite everything have managed to coexist generating a miscegenation and growth of the community between Haitians and Venezuelans over the years.
This closeness has allowed me to know their adaptation processes and to generate bonds of friendship in spite of the multiple cultural barriers.
