Join the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Spreeha Foundation for a free training on safer shelter practices. All are welcome, but please note that the content and discussions will be contextualized within hazards and practices in Bangladesh only.

Paying particular attention to at-risk communities, migrants, displaced populations, and other vulnerable mobile groups as well as women and youth, IOM’s programming on disaster risk reduction (DRR) aims to prevent or reduce displacement associated with natural hazards through support to disaster prevention and mitigation, risk governance, and information. IOM also works to strengthen resilience by integrating build back safer measures in recovery and reconstruction.

The Spreeha Foundation transforms lives by empowering people in communities to thrive through healthcare, education, skills training, and economic opportunities. Spreeha works locally and globally to empower underprivileged communities, address humanitarian needs, and build social awareness.

The training will discuss:

• Understanding and promoting Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and "Build Back Safer" practices which address humanitarian and resilient shelter needs
• Exploring how the needs of communities in Bangladesh can be more effectively met through diaspora engagement
• Engaging diasporas for greater engagement with U.S.-Bangladeshi diaspora members around Build Back Safer programs and coordination mechanisms
