The African Diaspora Investments Marketplace is an exciting new project to increase entrepreneurial opportunities and investment across Africa.

We would like to invite you, as a member of the African diaspora, to share your experiences and insights and influence the direction of this important initiative.

The International Centre for Migration Policy Development and the African Union have joined together to conduct a feasibility study for developing a new investment marketplace for the African Diaspora across Africa, Europe and the UK. The purpose of this marketplace is to engage the diaspora with the local entrepreneurial ecosystem directly and help it grow.                        

The diaspora’s role in investing in and contributing to the development of their countries of origin is gaining increased, but insufficient, recognition.

While the diaspora's role in investment and development has grown and they are increasingly seen as important development stakeholders, they are still not viewed as significant social investors by governments, the private sector, or indeed the diaspora themselves.

The idea of a marketplace to connect diaspora with entrepreneurs in their countries of origin is not new. However, a study into how this should be implemented is key to its success in increasing diaspora-led investments into entrepreneurs in their chosen countries.

This represents a big missed opportunity to leverage new innovations for harnessing and seeking to scale up diaspora investments for growth in African ecosystems.

In this feasibility study, we are interviewing diaspora entrepreneurs, investors, ecosystem supporters, policymakers, and associations.

• A 45-minute group interview with a team or small group to discuss your views on what would be helpful to you in the investment marketplace.
• A 20-minute online survey accessible from your computer or mobile device, to answer a series of short questions focused on what would be helpful to you in the investment marketplace.
