I am 48 years old and from Georgia, a country known for its welcoming environment for people of diverse nationalities, religions, and ethnic backgrounds. I married in Italy 13 years ago and built a wonderful Italian-Georgian family. I hold a Master’s degree from Tbilisi State University. After graduation, I worked at a private bank in Tbilisi, and later, I received a scholarship from the Ministry of Education of Latvia. This opportunity took me to Riga, where I pursued a year of doctoral studies at the University of Latvia. While completing my Ph.D. in Riga, I also worked with the Georgian diaspora as a Georgian language teacher and a translator.
Upon returning to my hometown, I worked at the Embassy of Latvia for nearly two years. I taught the Georgian language to various diplomats, consuls, and ambassadors in Tbilisi. Since marrying in Bari, Italy, I’ve continued teaching English and Georgian. My dream is to support Georgian immigrants who come to Italy for manual labor. I envision establishing a small association or diaspora group here in Bari. Currently, there is only a consulate, but I believe immigrants need more than what a consulate can provide.
My goal is to help them develop new skills, find better job opportunities, and even pursue further education at local universities. I would also like to establish classes for learning Italian to enhance their communication skills, ultimately helping them improve their quality of life here.
