I am from Turkey and graduated from Sociology in the Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara/Turkey. Before starting my PhD degree at the University of Sussex, I completed a Master’s degree in the Department of Social Anthropology at (METU). I am currently final year PhD student in Sociology at the University of Sussex.
I am working on PhD research on transnational migrant families. Specifically, I hope to gain a better understanding of how transnational migrants and their non-migrant relatives build relationships across nation-states in the case of Turkish migrants in Japan and their left-behind families in Turkey.
