Heela Yoon, 24, founder of Afghan Youth Ambassadors for Peace, a non-profit organization that works to create a peaceful and just Afghanistan and is led by Afghan youth activists focused on building sustainable peace. As a young peace-building advocate, Heela works with other local peacebuilders, national government, regional & international communities to build connections between the issues of peace and youth involvement. Heela was born in Afghanistan but currently lives as a refugee in the United Kingdom. As a young leader, her experience has led her to become a recipient of Cora Weiss Peacebuilding Fellowship, the Youth Peace Fellowship at Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice, and the Chevening Scholarship 2021. Heela is also a 2022 Global Young Leader for SDGs appointed by UN Secretary-General Youth Envoy.
