Descripción de la Institución

Russian-speaking Community Council, Inc. (formerly "of Manhattan and the Bronx") is the oldest currently active community-building and advocacy organization of immigrants/refugees/exiles from Russia and other former Soviet countries. We educate our community and others about defending and advancing immigrant rights, promoting civic participation, and the relevance of the human and civil rights movements in Russia and the former Soviet Union for the present-day America and the rest of the world. We serve as a collective voice of Russian-speakers in New York and other parts of the country, regardless of their ethnicity or faith, in their pursuit of a successful integration in American society and in the defense of their interests. Our mission is to advance their civic participation, leadership development and collaboration with immigrant and other communities in the pursuit of a more just and fair society with equal opportunities for all.
In 2012, we set up our nationwide network in support of Russia's political prisoners - American Russian-speaking Association for Civil & Human Rights (amrusrights.wordpress.com). In 2020, we launched the Center for the Analysis and Development of Russian-speaking Diasporas (https://lnkd.in/gqcb7uH) - the first-ever such center in the US or anywhere in the world.
