The Humanitarian Library is designed as a global clearinghouse for regional humanitarian knowledge. As a user-oriented resource, it is designed to be the first reference for both sharing and searching for field-relevant documents. Documents can be found by searching the website using keywords or by using a map search function to find information on specific countries or regions.

The Shelter and Settlement resource search returns over 2,000 resources on the S&S sector, including a case study of shelter clusters in Haiti that provides clear diagrams about how the shelter clusters operate, and a guide on specific construction types, techniques, tools, etc. to utilize to build strong structures. The search returns resources such as videos, project reports, and government documents.
