IPAM is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Sierra Leone; and it is the business and management school of the University. It offers courses at certificate, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate level in the following disciplines: Accountancy, Business Administration & Entrepreneurship, Information Systems and Technology, Banking & Finance and Governance & Leadership. ACCOUNTANCY DEPARTMENT

• The Accountancy department delivers all accounting and finance related courses at IPAM.

II. Position Information

III. Objectives of Assignment

• To review and update the current Taxation curriculum that will encompass local tax systems and structures that would help students to understand their local tax system instead of the UK tax system that is presently in use ;
• To provide students with both the theoretical and practical experiences required of an auditor.

IV. Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• To develop a curriculum on Sierra Leone tax systems and structures that helps students to understand their local tax system instead of the UK tax system;
• To teach and assess students on Taxation for the period of assignment
• To teach students both the theoretical and practical aspects of auditing that makes them become better auditors.
• To introduce within the curriculum modern auditing techniques.

V. Competencies

The resource person is expected to demonstrate the following competencies: Behavioural:

• Ability to work as a strong team player;
• Ability to quickly adapt to an unfamiliar environment;
• Work under pressure and meet stipulated deadlines; and
• Must accept multi-cultural diversity.

Technical:

• Experience in teaching and research at university level;
• Adequate knowledge and experience in curriculum development for courses offered at university level; and
• Very good analytical and writing skills;

VI. Education and Experience

The expected resource persons must:

• Have at least a Master’s degree or a professional qualification in related discipline and
• Have taught or work in related field for at least five years.
