The Ministry is established with the mission to create a modern and highly productive agricultural system that uses a more advanced technology which enables the society to eradicate poverty. The country’s economy is dominated by agriculture, contributing 38.8% to the GDP and this contribution to the GDP comes mainly from crop and livestock sub-sector, where the crop sub-sector contributes about 30% of the GDP and 67.3% of the export earnings. Crop production directorate director have four case team position:-- Irrigation & agro meteorology case team
- Pulse, seed multiplication & post-harvest handling case team
- Stack & cereal crop case team
- Oil & fibre crop case team

Outcomes:- Increase the percentage of new technology beneficiaries on crop production
- Increase percentage of production & productivity of stack & cereal crop
- Increase the percentage of production & productivity of pulse crop
- Increase the percentage of production & productivity of oil & fibre crop
- Reduce the percentage of pre & post-harvest handling loss of cropIncrease the percentage of nutrition content of major food crop
IV. Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Main tasks include:- To conduct technology need assessment to introduce high yielding variety of crop & modern agronomical practice
- Major problem identification & prioritization in areas of crop production and propose recommendations
- Lack of new technology & skills
- Lack of high yielding variety of crop
- Lack of agricultural equipment/from land preparation up to harvesting/
- Poor agronomical practice
- Lack of crop protection mechanism
- Poor per & post-harvest crop production management
- Support the planning process to introduce new crop production enhancement technology Introduction of new skill, knowledge & technology in crop production area including land preparation up to post harvest handling techniques
- Adoption of new technology & crop variety based on agro ecology
- Provide skill & knowledge through providing theoretical & practical training on the following specific topics
- Seed selection & multiplication techniques
- Fertilizer application techniques
- Irrigation application techniques & crop water requirement
- Crop protection mechanisms
- Crop assessment methodology
- Post-harvest handling management mechanisms
- Agro meteorology advisory preparation
- Facilitate experience sharing on modern crop production system & productivity
- Compile best practice that increasing crop production techniques & support scale up efforts
- Share knowledge and experience on monitoring & evaluation activities

Education Doctorate & MSc degree in agriculture especially in the field of- Irrigation agronomy,
- post-harvest management,
- plan protection,
- soil fertility management
- seed production & multiplication
- cereal crop production & management
- oil crops production & management
- pulse production & management
- Agro meteorology
- Agricultural mechanization technology
- Agricultural extension
- 15 years’ experience related to agriculture sector especially agricultural research & extension for small holder farmers
- Experience on dry land farming & production
- Knowledge of research methods/techniques, data analysis
- Experience in conducting research, organizing workshops, seminars and short term trainings
- Experience in partnership building
- Demonstrated experience in project management and implementation
